This wooden A-frame cabin may be small but it really packs a punch and offers that authentic “cabin in the woods” experience. The forest views are absolutely stunning, but it’s the beautiful interiors, attention to detail and thoughtful touches that make the stay even more magical!

Perched high on the mountainside of La Bruyere Farm in Tulbagh and surrounded by pine trees, just 90 minutes from Cape Town, this cabin features a loft bedroom accessible by ladder that will transport you back to your childhood. The double outdoor baths are perfect for forest bathing and stargazing and don’t require monk-like patience to get the temperature just right.

Our Top Tips

  • Pack your hiking shoes, mountain bikes and swimming costumes as there are plenty of trails to explore and a dam to take a refreshing dip in after
  • Bring your fishing rod along as you can fish in the dam (catch and release)
  • Don’t stress if you’ve forgotten something as it’s just a 10 minute drive into Tulbagh. There are also some really great coffee shops, restaurants and wine tasting spots to explore, we recommend Kole & Deeg for lunch/coffee or for working remotely, The Tulbagh Hotel for dinner & Montpellier, Saronsberg or Twee Jonge Gezellen for wine tasting

Things to note

  • Tea, instant & ground coffee, sugar, olive oil, ice, salt and pepper, and seasoning are provided
  • There is no WiFi at the cabin and the cell reception isn’t always great so make sure to book your leave in for a stress-free getaway
  • The cabin relies on UPS batteries to run the lights, milk frother, phone chargers, etc. They supply two batteries per stay so please use power sparingly and don’t use a hairdryer etc.
  • Try pack lightly as it’s a 2 minute walk with wooden steps leading down to the cabin so you don’t want to be making multiple trips to the car
