Sol means sun, and the warm, light-filled spaces make perfect sense the moment you arrive!
Set in the heart of the Hemel en Aarde Valley, one of the Western Cape’s most beautiful wine regions, this private farm escape for two treats you to spectacular sunrises, golden sunsets, and star-filled skies with zero light pollution. The valley’s world-class wine farms are just a short drive away, but with complete privacy, a wood-fired hot tub and views this good, you may not feel the need to leave at all!
What we loved
This is the kind of place where you instantly slow down. We loved sitting outside with a coffee, watching the incredible birdlife around the cabin and taking in the views across the valley. Waking up to the morning mist rolling through was pure magic, and at night there is no light pollution so it’s great for star gazing. The homemade cookies, farm-fresh milk and eggs waiting on arrival, as well as the small fynbos details made the cabin feel so welcoming!
The Space
Kitchenette
There’s a fully equipped kitchenette with a whistling kettle, gas hob, large fridge/freezer, and air fryer. Tea, filter coffee, sugar, rusks, olive oil, as well as salt and pepper are provided, along with farm-fresh milk and eggs for that extra special touch.
Living/Dining
The open-plan living and dining space is light, bright and spacious, with high ceilings and large glass doors that open onto the deck and views outside. There’s a two-seater dining area, a cosy indoor fireplace for winter, and a comfy Vetsak to sink into, with a fan to keep things cool in summer.
Outdoors
This is where Sol really shines! The spacious outdoor deck comes with two sun loungers, a hot tub for soaking under the stars, and a covered patio with a sofa, dining area, and braai, all with beautiful views over the farm. Round the back, there’s an outdoor shower with spectacular views – the perfect way to wash off, completely surrounded by nature.
Bedroom
The bedroom looks straight out over the valley, so you can catch the sunrise without lifting your head from the pillow. On misty mornings, it feels like you’re floating above the clouds. The queen-sized bed is fitted with luxurious linen, and in winter you’ll find robes and hot water bottles waiting to keep things extra cosy. There’s also a bench seat and hanging space to unpack and settle in properly.
Bathroom
The bathroom features a walk-in shower and a large window overlooking the valley views. There’s also an outdoor shower if you prefer to be more immersed in nature.

Our Top Tips
- Pack your hiking shoes, mountain bikes and swimming costumes as there are three different trails to explore on the farm and a dam to take a refreshing dip in after
- Set an early alarm at least once, the sunrises (and misty mornings) at Sol are worth it
- Grab your groceries beforehand, once you arrive you won’t want to leave
- Sol is situated close to the Hemel en Aarde Wine Valley which has some of the best wine farms in the country! Some of our favourite wine estates are: Creation, Ataraxia, Spookfontein & Bosman Hermanus
