Some places stop you in your tracks the moment you arrive, and Emerald Ravine is one of them! This four-sleeper, off-grid wooden forest house sits on a private 38-hectare sanctuary in Nature’s Valley, where indigenous forest meets ocean views and slowing down is the only thing on the agenda. This isn’t just a cabin stay, it’s a full reset.
With a plunge pool, yoga shala, private hiking trails, and a lookout deck that steals the show, it’s the kind of place you’ll be messaging your friends about before you’ve even unpacked!
What we loved
This place is a proper soul reset! The peace and quiet here is on another level, with nothing but forest sounds and birds chirping all day. The space feels so homey and warm, while the attention to detail is next level and of such high quality. The architecture is something we’ve never seen before, and sleeping with the skylight blind open, watching the stars was magical. We also loved the hike down to the rock pool, and ending the day with sundowners at the 360° viewpoint – those views are unreal!
The Space
Kitchen/Dining
There’s a fully equipped kitchen with a large freestanding SMEG oven and gas hob, a coffee machine, airfryer, soda stream, blender and toaster. There’s also a large fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. Coffee, tea, sugar, olive oil, a range of herbs and spices, and salt & pepper are provided. There’s also an island counter with bar stools for indoor dining.
Living
The open-plan living area has a warm, natural feel – think timber, earthy tones, and big windows that blur the line between inside and out. There’s a large couch, two armchairs, a fireplace, and a large Vetsak beanbag for ultimate chilling. Upstairs you’ll find one of the most special features of Emerald Ravine, the yoga shala, complete with yoga mats, a mother drum, and a gong.
Outdoors
You’ll want to spend most of your time outside on the partially covered deck, taking in the forest views and listening to the sounds of nature. There’s a large dining table, a hammock, a couch, and a plunge pool for cooling off on warmer days. There’s also an upstairs deck with even better ocean views, along with an outdoor shower. Steps lead down to a fire pit, perfect for evenings under the stars.
Bedrooms
Both bedrooms are super spacious and come with king-sized beds, luxurious linen, and en-suite bathrooms. The main bedroom is upstairs and features a skylight with a blind that opens and closes at the press of a button. Each room also has a ceiling fan and plenty of wardrobe space, and the downstairs bedroom includes a desk.
Bathrooms
The main bedroom comes with a large soaking bath as well as an indoor and outdoor shower for a more immersive, nature-filled experience. The toilet is separate for privacy. The downstairs bathroom has a walk-in shower, and there’s an additional loo near the front door.

Our Top Tips
- Pack your hiking shoes and swimming costumes as there are some beautiful hiking trails on the property. We did the River Path Trail which is about 45 minutes each way. It is quite steep and slippery so we’d recommend only doing it in summer
- Pack your yoga gear as you’ll want to make use of the yoga shala
- Head to the 360 degree observation deck for sundowners – the views are absolutely spectacular!
- We’d recommend stocking up on supplies at The Market Square Mall as once you arrive, you probably won’t want to leave! There’s a Woolworths and a Pick n Pay there
