A peaceful cabin escape without the mission of a long road trip? Avocado Cabin is exactly that!
This eco pod is nestled in the Banhoek Valley, less than an hour from Cape Town, on a 60-hectare regenerative farm and overlooks a beautiful dam. You’ll find yourself surrounded by breathtaking mountain views, hiking trails, and a choice of dams for swimming. It’s the ultimate spot to refresh your soul and reconnect with nature, yet only an 8-minute drive to Stellenbosch for dinner, shopping or wine tasting.
What we loved
We loved the dam and mountain views, it’s such a peaceful location watching birds come and go, but you can still nip out to nearby wine farms and restaurants during the day, so it really is the best of both worlds. The little window nook quickly became one of our favourite spots to slow down with a coffee and a good book. Another highlight was the sauna and ice bath area, just a short walk from the cabin. The sauna heats up surprisingly quickly, and the views from there are awesome!
The Space
Kitchenette
There’s a fully-equipped kitchenette with a Nespresso coffee machine, SMEG kettle and toaster, a gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. Tea, coffee, sugar, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, as well as salt and pepper are provided.
Living/Dining
The open-plan living and dining space has high ceilings and large glass doors that open fully onto the deck and views outside. There’s a cosy indoor fireplace, a comfy couch with a large ottoman to put your feet up, and a four-seater dining table. There’s also a reading nook that’s the perfect spot to curl up with a blanket and a good book, or it can be converted into an extra sleeping space for kids or another adult.
Outdoors
The spacious outdoor deck opens out from both the lounge and bedroom and has beautiful views over the two dams. There are sun loungers, wraparound cargo nets, a hot tub, and a fire pit, making it the perfect space to relax and switch off. There’s also a sauna and ice bath, free of charge, just a short walk down from the cabin.
Bedroom
The bedroom features beautiful earthy finishes and large glass doors that open straight onto the deck. The queen-sized bed is fitted with luxurious linen, and waking up to the views from bed is such a treat. There’s also an aircon and fan for warmer days, and hot water bottles and electric blankets for winter, along with an open wardrobe and shelving for storage.
Bathroom
The bathroom features a spacious walk-in shower and a large vanity area for getting ready. The toilet is located separately just outside the bedroom for added privacy. Local shower amenities are also provided.
