Perched 3 hours from Cape Town, this ultra-secluded cabin feels like your own private slice of the Little Karoo – no neighbours, no distractions, just endless koppies and rugged mountain ranges stretching as far as the eye can see.
What we loved
We loved how secluded the cabin is, you won’t even spot distant lights at night, just a blanket of stars and the Milky Way. The split living design is so unique, and all the glass really lets the views in. The entire stay had us wondering how they managed to get the building supplies and furniture up here! We also loved how spacious the cabin is, and how each of the amenities, from the hot tub and plunge pool to the outdoor shower and the hammock suspended between the two living spaces, offers a different way to take in the surroundings.
The Space
Kitchen
There’s a fully equipped kitchen with a gas oven, fridge/freezer, toaster, whistling kettle, coffee grinder, and milk frother. Coffee beans, loose-leaf tea, sugar, rusks, 250ml of milk, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and salt & pepper are provided.
Living/Dining
The living and dining area has everything you need to unwind: a large leather Chesterfield couch, comfy armchairs, a cozy fireplace, a two-seater dining area, and floor-to-ceiling glass windows and doors framing those endless Little Karoo views.
Outdoors
There are multiple outdoor amenities and spaces to enjoy the views. The large deck includes a seating area, firepit, and outdoor dining space. A boardwalk on one side leads to the hot tub, while the other takes you to the splash pool and sun deck.
Bedroom
The extra-length king-sized bed is fitted with a Sloom mattress, luxurious linen, and extra blankets to keep you cosy in winter. The room also features a beautiful freestanding bath, and the large doors open fully onto the deck so you can soak up the breathtaking views right from bed or while relaxing in the bath. There’s also ample cupboard space to store your belongings.
Bathroom
You can choose between an indoor bath or an outdoor shower, both offer beautiful views. Fluffy gowns and Fijn amenities are also provided. The toilet is separate for privacy.

- Pack your hiking shoes, mountain bike and swimming gear – there are 300 hectares of secluded wilderness to explore and your own private pool to take a dip in after
- They offer breakfast, picnic, and dinner boxes to make your stay even more special
- You can also arrange for a private chef to prepare a three- or five-course wine pairing experience
- Don’t forget to bring your favourite pizza ingredients or order a pizza box as you’ll want to make use of the pizza oven
- You’ll want to grab your groceries beforehand, as once you arrive, you won’t want to leave! Spar Montagu is a good option for the basics
- Factor in some time to explore the town of Montagu on your drive up or back — it’s super quaint and there are some really nice coffee shops
