This ultra-modern, barn-inspired retreat offers complete privacy, endless views, and all the ingredients for a dreamy escape! Soak in golden sunsets from the wood-fired hot tub while the pizza oven heats up, lounge by the pool after a morning hike, or curl up by the fireplace with a good book and nowhere else to be.
What we loved
With no one in sight, it feels like you have the entire farm to yourself. And it’s not just the wide-open views – the interiors feel super spacious too! We loved how the lofty ceilings and barn-inspired details e.g. sacks and riding boots, create the feeling of staying in a super-luxe, modern barn. We also enjoyed exploring the private hiking trails and cooling off in the pool after.
The space
Kitchen
There’s a fully equipped kitchenette with a gas oven, fridge/freezer, toaster, whistling kettle, coffee grinder, and milk frother. Coffee beans, loose leaf tea, sugar, rusks, 250ml milk, olive oil, balsamic vinegar and salt & pepper are provided, as well as complimentary Abrikoos Kloof wine.
Living/Dining
The living and dining space has everything you need to unwind – leather armchairs by a large fireplace, a comfy petrol-blue couch, and a cosy two-seater dining area. The low windows frame the landscape, creating the feeling that you’re moving through the Little Karoo on a luxury train!
Outdoors
There are multiple spots to relax and soak up the views. A boardwalk from the bedroom leads to a splash pool and a sun deck, ideal for lazy afternoons. Behind the cabin, a path winds up to a wood-fired hot tub, a boma area with a firepit, and a wood-fired pizza oven.
Bedroom
The extra-length four-poster king-sized bed comes with luxurious linen and extra blankets for winter as well as a fireplace. The bedroom looks out to the pool, and you can slide the doors and low windows open fully to enjoy the breathtaking views from bed.
Bathroom
The open-plan bathroom features a stunning bathtub with doors that open up fully so you can enjoy an “outdoor” bath. There is also an outdoor shower if you prefer being even closer to nature. Fijn amenities are provided. The toilet is separate for privacy and features a country barn toilet with a view.

Our Top Tips
- Pack your hiking shoes, mountain bike and swimming gear – there are 300 hectares of secluded wilderness to explore and your own private pool to take a dip in after
- They offer breakfast, picnic, and dinner boxes to make your stay even more special
- You can also arrange for a private chef to prepare a three- or five-course wine pairing experience
- Don’t forget to bring your favourite pizza ingredients or order a pizza box as you’ll want to make use of the pizza oven
- You’ll want to grab your groceries beforehand, as once you arrive, you won’t want to leave! Spar Montagu is a good option for the basics
- Factor in some time to explore the town of Montagu on your drive up or back — it’s super quaint and there are some really nice coffee shops
