Hidden deep in a quiet valley in McGregor and surrounded by proteas, Sena Cabin feels like a secret you’ll want to keep. With an outdoor bath, wood-fired hot tub, splash pool, and the kind of seclusion that makes you feel like you’ve got the whole world to yourself, this is a space made for slowing down, reconnecting, and letting the mountains set the pace.
What we loved
We loved how secluded it felt, like our own little hideaway in the mountains. The raised bedroom was another highlight, as it feels like you’re sleeping among the proteas and completely surrounded by nature. Between the splash pool, the dreamy outdoor bath, and all the thoughtful little touches, Sena Cabin nails that balance of luxury and simplicity that we just can’t get enough of.
The Space
Kitchenette/Dining
The modern kitchenette is fully equipped with a gas stove, whistling kettle, Nespresso machine, small fridge and air fryer. There is also a large Field Bar to keep your drinks cool. Coffee pods, filter coffee, tea, sugar, rusks, olive oil, balsamic vinegar and salt & pepper are provided. There is also an island bench with two barstools for casual dining.
Living
There’s a comfy L-shaped bench seat and a fireplace – the perfect spot for reading or winding down on chilly evenings. You’ll also find a little book-swap library (take a book, leave a book!), plus a few board games and a Bluetooth speaker to enjoy during your stay.
Outdoors
There are plenty of spots to unwind and soak up the views. The deck features a wood-fired hot tub, outdoor shower, beanbag loungers and a dining area. Steps lead down to a gas braai and boma area, while winding paths take you to the field bath and splash pool.

Our Top Tips
- Pack your hiking shoes or mountain bikes as you’ll want to explore the surrounding areas. We did the Klipspringer Hike which leads to a beautiful rock pool (it takes 1.5hrs and it can be a bit hectic in parts with loose rocks but it’s so worth it!)
- There is a two night minimum stay so make sure to book your leave in for a stress-free getaway (the wifi can be a little slow if you’re working remotely)
- Remember to bring a book so you can make use of the book swap library – take a book, leave a book
- Pick up some ice in Robertson so you can keep your drinks perfectly chilled in the Field Bar. There is a decent Spar in Robertson
- Factor in some time to explore the town of McGregor, it’s super quaint and there are some really nice coffee shops
- If Sena is booked then have a look at Zola which is very similar (< 1km away)
