The name of this cabin says it all! Perched atop a hill in the heart of the Hemel en Aarde Valley, this off grid cabin offers complete seclusion, with a peaceful stream just below for added relaxation. And it’s just a short drive away from the valley’s world-class wine farms!
This luxuriously designed and beautifully decorated cabin is surrounded by panoramic mountain views and unspoiled nature. Equipped with everything you could possibly need and more, it’s the ultimate spot to unplug and enjoy a romantic weekend and one of our top picks for couples.
What we loved
The location really doesn’t get better than this! It’s 100% private and nestled high up in the mountains, waking up above the clouds the one morning was a serious highlight for us! And the moonscape feel is like nothing we’ve experienced before – it gave us serious Game of Thrones vibes, especially that boma area!
The Space
Kitchen
The modern kitchen features is fully equipped with a gas stove, fridge-freezer and airfryer, along with two bar counter stools for casual dining. Coffee, tea, sugar, milk, rusks, olive oil, balsamic vinegar and salt & pepper are provided.
Living/Dining
The cozy open-plan living space comes with a fireplace that warms up the entire cabin in winter and a window seat perfect for soaking up the sun while reading a good book or enjoying one of the provided board games. You can choose to dine indoors or outdoors on the deck.
Outdoors
There are multiple spaces to unwind and enjoy the views, including a KolKol wood fired hot tub, cargo nets, sun loungers and an outdoor dining area. A cobblestone pathway, beautifully light at night, will lead you down to the braai and boma area.
Bedroom
The bedroom opens out onto the deck with the cargo nets just below and overlooks stunning mountain views. The queen sized bed comes with luxurious linen and there are robes and hot water bottles for winter.
Bathroom
The bathroom is situated behind the bedroom and comes with a toilet and wash basin on the one side and a large shower on the other with Just Pure amenities. You can also open the sliding door of the shower fully if you feel like being more in nature!

Our Top Tips
- Pack your hiking shoes as there are plenty of scenic hikes through the surrounding mountains
- You’ll want to grab your groceries beforehand, as once you arrive, you won’t want to leave
- On The Hill is situated close to the Hemel en Aarde Wine Valley which has some of the best wine farms in the country! Some of our favourite wine estates are: Creation, Ataraxia, Spookfontein & Bosman Hermanus

- A high clearance vehicle is needed due to the steep 4km gravel road with several ditches along the way. If you don’t have one, a vehicle can be arranged to transport you up to the cabin
