This has to be one of the most luxurious and magical treehouses out there! It’s been designed with complete seclusion and romance in mind, which is why it’s one of our top picks for honeymoon couples. Star gaze from the wood fired hot tub or grab a blanket and cuddle up on the cargo nets surrounded by nothing but nature and wildlife.
The Treehouse is situated in a secluded valley in the beautiful Melozhori Game Reserve (2 hours 30 minutes from Cape Town) surrounded by undulating hills and mountains. With no other signs of civilisation, you’ll feel as though you’re in the deepest bush of Africa! There are 38 species of game in the reserve but no predators so you can walk and mountain bike freely. A complimentary game drive is also included in your stay where you can spot giraffe, zebra, sable and even fallow deer!
Features
This two-story eco treehouse sleeps 2 adults and can accommodate 2 small children. It has been designed around a large tree with a ceiling of beautifully lit branches and leaves. The spacious interiors offer everything you need for the comfiest and most luxurious stay! Upstairs you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen with a pizza oven and the living space which leads out to a deck and braai.
Head downstairs to the bedroom which features a fireplace and an open plan bathroom. The bedroom opens up onto a sprawling deck with all the outdoor amenities you can dream of – sun loungers, a wood fired hot tub, 3m long cargo net and fire pit. You’ll also have the option of two outdoor showers, you just have to decide how immersed in nature you want to be.
The Space
Kitchen
There’s a fully equipped kitchen with an oven, fridge-freezer, microwave, dishwasher, air conditioning and bean-to-cup coffee machine. On arrival, you’ll be greeted with the irresistible aroma of freshly baked bread (which tastes as good as it smells!), as well as a fresh fruit bowl. Coffee, tea, sugar, milk, biscuits, olive oil, vinegar and salt & pepper are also provided. Don’t forget to pack your own pizza ingredients to take advantage of the pizza oven or order a pizza basket.
Living/Dining
There are so many different chill areas throughout the space each boasting floor-to-ceiling windows to take in the views and hopefully spot some game! The upstairs living space has a large L-shaped couch and dining area and opens onto a deck, with a braai, barstools and a bean bag for lounging on. There is also a built-in sound system to enjoy your road trip travel playlist from!
Bedroom
The bedroom has more comfy seating and an open plan bathroom, all leading out onto the deck. There’s a cozy fireplace for winter and aircon for those hot summer nights.The king sized bed comes with electric blankets, luxurious linen and plenty of blankets. They also leave you a cute bedtime story and chocolate next to your bed each night.
Bathroom
The open plan bathroom showcases a super unique hand-built wooden bath and offers the option of two outdoor showers – one located just outside the bedroom and another along the boardwalk, more in nature. Velvety gowns and slippers are provided for your comfort.

- Pack your hiking shoes, mountain bike and binoculars as there is 2300 hectares of property to explore and 38 species of wildlife
- There is a two night minimum stay so make sure to book your leave in for a stress-free getaway (the wifi can be a little slow at times if you’re working remotely)
- You’ll want to grab your groceries beforehand, as once you arrive, you won’t want to leave (Peregrine Farm Stall is a good option for some fresh produce, homemade quiches and pies)
- Semi-catering, pizza baskets, snack platters etc can be arranged with prior notice. We recommend ordering the pizza basket
- Melozhori is situated on the Robertson Wine Valley Route. If you do decide to venture out then make sure to stop off at Springfield Wine Estate, their Life From Stone wine is our all time favourite!
