Looking to completely disconnect? Leopard’s Kloof is one of the most secluded stays in South Africa. Tucked away deep in the mountains, 30 km outside of Montagu, this luxurious glamping stay will make you feel like an explorer from a past time! With no signal or WiFi, you can truly disconnect from the world and reconnect with nature.
Start your day exploring the reserve with activities like hiking, rock climbing, bird watching or mountain biking. Afterwards, refresh with an outdoor shower or a relaxing bath. In the afternoon, unwind with a good book on the cargo net or relax in the wood-fired hot tub, soaking in the breathtaking cliff face views.
Features
This spacious, open-plan tented stay offers the ultimate glamping experience for two. The colonial-inspired decor, complemented by antiques and memorabilia, will transport you back to the era of exploration. Outside, you’ll find all the amenities you could wish for, including a massive cargo net. A walkway leads around to the splash pool, which doubles as a hot tub. Another path takes you to the outdoor lounge and braai area, equipped with a braai and pizza oven. Accessible only by 4×4, this secluded retreat is perfect for those seeking an off-grid adventure away from everything and everyone.
The Space
Kitchenette
There’s a fully-equipped kitchenette with a Le Creuset whistling kettle, gas hob, and a fridge/freezer. Instant coffee, tea, sugar, olive oil, salt and pepper, and some spices are provided. Don’t forget to pack your pizza ingredients as you’ll want to make use of the pizza oven. There is also a potjie pot and jaffle iron.
Living/Dining
The lounge boasts a large Chesterfield sofa, two armchairs, plenty of warm and fluffy blankets, and a stunning egg-shaped fireplace, creating a cozy spot to enjoy books and board games. You can choose to dine indoors or outside on the deck. Additionally, there’s an outdoor living area next to the braai and pizza oven if you prefer being closer to nature.
Bedroom
The four-poster, king-size bed comes with luxurious linen and a mosquito net, ensuring a peaceful night’s sleep. There are extra blankets and hot water bottles for winter. Unzip all the “windows” for a true nature experience! There is also a small study area featuring an antique desk and telescope, perfect for writing and quiet reflection.
Bathroom
The bedroom is en suite—yes, there’s a toilet and a Victorian bathtub inside the tent! You’ll also find handmade soaps, along with organic shampoo and body wash. Follow the steps down to the outdoor shower, where a showerhead emerges from a tree. With no one around and just breathtaking views of the valley you’ll really feel immersed in nature.

- You’ll want to grab your groceries beforehand, as once you arrive, you won’t want to leave or drive back up the 4km dirt road! There is a small shop in the Koo valley with the basics, otherwise Montagu Spar is 40km away
