Jan Albert Pod is situated on the Breede River, less than 90 minutes from Cape Town. This modern, luxurious and super spacious cabin is perfect for a romantic getaway or if you’re in need of a break but don’t want to venture too far! With direct river access and a canoe, you can spend your days on the water, followed by evenings braaing and unwinding in the wood-fired hot tub.
What we loved
The peacefulness. We loved enjoying our morning coffee from the king-sized bed with the doors open, taking in the views and watching all the little birds come and go. It’s true luxury to have so much space in a cabin, both inside and out on the deck! We also loved the hot tub, luxurious interiors and popping down for a paddle on the Breede River.

Our Top Tips
- Don’t forget your swimming costumes, pool floaties, and fishing gear (catch and release) as you’ll want to spend your days on the river. There is also a kayak you can use during your stay
- Pack your hiking shoes or mountain bike and explore the farm and mountain trails
- Book your leave in for a stress-free getaway as the wifi can be a little slow if you’re working remotely
- If Jan Albert is booked, have a look at Joubert Pod – they are nearly identical
- Book a massage and enjoy it from the comfort of the cabin — there’s no better way to relax!
- Pop into Monk’s Gin for a gin tasting (at the entrance to the farm) or explore Bosjes if you feel like driving a bit further. The gardens are amazing and it’s the perfect spot to grab a bite to eat
- Head home over Bain’s Kloof Pass, it’s one of the most beautiful passes in the Western Cape!
